I have to say I disagree. Sure, there are garbage blogs out there, but a lot of the highest quality reading material I see out there&mdash;and yes, in fact, journalism, too&mdash;is in blogs. I&#8217;ve seen some terrible reporting in legitimate news outlets: <br \/> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.psychocats.net\/ubuntucat\/tech-journalism-strikes-again-of-course-apple-will-recommend-antivirus-eventually\/\">Tech \u201cjournalism\u201d strikes again: of course Apple will recommend antivirus eventually<\/a><br \/> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.psychocats.net\/ubuntucat\/tech-journalism-hits-new-low-at-pc-world\/\">Tech \u201cjournalism\u201d hits new low at PC World<\/a><br \/> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.psychocats.net\/ubuntucat\/bad-journalism\/\">Bad Journalism<\/a><\/p>\n<p> Well, here is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sfgate.com\/cgi-bin\/article.cgi?f=\/g\/a\/2010\/04\/24\/businessinsider-warning-blippy-users-debit-card-numbers-still-appearing-in-google-2010-4.DTL\"><i>The San Francisco Chronicle<\/i><\/a>, apparently with its copy editor on vacation:<\/p>\n<p> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.psychocats.net\/ubuntucat\/wp-content\/uploads\/terribleproofreading.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.psychocats.net\/ubuntucat\/wp-content\/uploads\/terribleproofreading-300x220.png\" alt=\"Click for larger image\" title=\"SF Chronicle without Copy Editor\" width=\"300\" height=\"220\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-2124\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.psychocats.net\/ubuntucat\/wp-content\/uploads\/terribleproofreading-300x220.png 300w, https:\/\/www.psychocats.net\/ubuntucat\/wp-content\/uploads\/terribleproofreading.png 665w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><br \/> I&#8217;ve underlined the grammar and spelling errors. Atrocious. And, yeah, if you&#8217;re quoting someone who has made a grammatical error, you use <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sic\"><i>[sic]<\/i><\/a> so we know the person you quoted messed up and that you didn&#8217;t mess up. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve heard a lot of people (including Eric Schmidt) blasting bloggers in favor of real journalism.
