I'm a CS student that has 3 computers (in other words, linux mandatory). On the two desktops, most linux distributions would mostly work (I've tested dozens). But my laptop, a presario 2100, I had a hard time with just about every distribution.

I was pleasantly surprised when I attempted to install Ubuntu 7.10 on my laptop, to find that all the hardware worked, and my wireless card, which has NEVER been detected on any OS but windows, worked on startup.

I've always been a Ubuntu fan, but the fact that I could get it to work so well on a system that even something juvenile as PCLinuxOS couldn't handle really impressed me.

In a few years, I don't see Windows being quite as popular. Linux distributions have been increasing their quality by leaps and bounds.
