While at least the good folks at
Alternet recognize that having an (albeit Caucasian-looking and impotent) Asian man be the object of desire for two White American women is unusual, the sociological quirks of this movie do not make up for the fact that it is boring, formulaic, and not that funny. Sure, every now and then it may elicit a laugh, but it is just too hard to find the storyline or characters compelling, even for a romantic comedy. The soundtrack is superb, though, and the Bollywood clips mixed with the ending scene from
Grease is a refreshing combination to see. As a curiosity item, it may be worth a look, but you may want to keep the fast-forward button close to your thumb.
