You've never heard of this movie? Too bad. I saw it in the theaters when I was a young boy, and I loved it! Upon a more recent viewing I began to wonder, "Was it just nostalgia or does this movie actually have substance?" Well, in many ways, the film is thoroughly predictable and the characters totally flat (the "bad guy" played by Sam Neill is bad in just about every way), but there are a few twists and surprises, not so much in what happens as how it happens. Chevy Chase is perfectly cast as the angry, slightly misunderstood, and wryly comic man who has become invisible by accident. The government wants him to be its spy, and he just wants to be normal again. A lot of typical "chase" drama with running, guns, cars, and the like, but the Bay Area setting and some good performances make up for all the old clichés.
