Not a deep film, but still cleverly humorous. This is truly Reese Witherspoon's comeback title. There is an interesting interplay between different kinds of intelligences (Howard Gardner would be proud!)--where ditzes can sometimes outsmart the stuffy Eastern aristocrats. The serious class and coast dichotomies hide behind the funny situations and dialogue. You cannot deny, though, no matter how many plot holes there are, no matter how cheesy the film is, no matter how unbelievable certain scenes play out, that the film is cute and endearing on at least one level. Hey, got to love the dog, especially when he's watching the Taco Bell commercial.
