This movie is critically acclaimed. Really, I haven't read a single bad review about it. So, I feel it's my duty to write the bad review. Okay, granted, Björk is not a bad actress. The songs aren't bad, either. Where does this movie lose out? Well, it just gets more and more ridiculous. Björk's character is supposed to be sympathetic, and she starts off that way, but the more and more stupid things she does, the less sympathy we feel for her. By the end of the movie, when she's hanged for murder, I'm screaming at the screen, "What the fuck? Why didn't you just tell them the truth? And why did you tell that guy about the money? So he could rob you? Idiot! Go ahead. Hang yourself. Like we give a shit." Really. You can't feel pity for someone who digs her own grave, almost literally. The movie is a manipulative tear-jerker, but, unfortunately, it doesn't manipulate very well.
