I'd heard a lot about this movie growing up. Some people said it was the worst movie ever made. Some people said it was titillating. Others said it was interesting revisionist history. It's a little bit of each, I'd say. Though, it's hard to be turned on by any of the sex in the movie because it's usually coupled with all sorts of bloodshed. There are machines that decapitate heads. There is graphic castration. There is bloody anal and vaginal rape. It's just not a pleasant movie. It's well-acted, though. The stars are Malcolm McDowell, Helen Mirren, and Peter O'Toole (among others). The drama is a bit heavy-handed and slow, too slow to make it compelling. It's an interesting curiosity piece, but don't expect to be entertained, really.
Macbeth has virtually the same storyline, a better script, and less gore and sex.
