This silly film from the 1980s is more a collection of skits than an actual movie. Think
Saturday Night Live or
Monty Python's Flying Circus. Now, think about half as funny. Basically, it has its on moments and its off moments. The running storyline spoof of the 1950s science fiction movie (re: title of the film) is the weakest one by far. Other weak skits are the funny funeral, the cosmopolitan museum closing, and the man being stuck in the tv. The good thing is that with the advent of the DVD version, you can easily skip through skits that don't interest you. Some of the funnier ones are the couple compatibility check skit, the titan condoms skit, and the blacks without soul skit. Also, be prepared to see a lot of famous faces (Arsenio Hall, Michelle Pfeiffer, Carrie Fisher, Steve Guttenberg--among others). Overall, some really good laughs and some
very dull moments. Get out that remote control!
